The Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service(NCS) generated N8.895bn



Revenue generated and collected from import and export during the period under review stands at N7. 245 billion
This is an increase of N1. 54 billion over the  sum of N7.494 billion generated and collected in half year of 2016.
The Customs Area controller,comptroller Udo-aka Emmanuel who made this  known while giving a report on the activities  between January and June 2017 said the  command made fifty-seven seizures of various items ranging from textile materials,Rice,foot wears,vehicles,bales of secondhand clothings etc.
The Duty Paid Value (DPV) on the seized goods is put at N103. 24 million
A breakdown of  the seizures made included 33 motor vehivles with a duty Paid value (DPV) of N3,321,000.00, 500 cartons of imported frozen fish with a duty paid value (DPV) of N3,321,000.00,
250 catons of imported frozen chicken with duty paid value (DPV) of N2,749,000.00.
Others are 55 jerry cans of 25 litres of foreign vegetables ol with a duty paid value (DPV) of N757,854.85, 477 pieces of retreaded Prumatic Tyres With a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N2,884,549,00, 16 bales of foreign textiles with Duty paid value (DPV) of N3,071,880.00.
Udo-aka remarked that some of the smugglers have become so deadly and desperate and have resorted to harassing and intmidating officers.

He however said that smuggling was  inimical to nation and her economy but warned those engrossed in the unholy act of smuggling to purge themselves from it or be ready to be  prosecuted and jailed.
