Anambra guber polls; APC National chairman meet aspirants, inaugurate screening committee



In the lead up to the Anambra State Governorship Elections, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), John Odigie-Oyegun has assured that the Party will conduct a free, fair primaries and ensure a level playing ground for all the Party’s aspirants.
The APC National Chairman said this when he met with the Party’s twelve aspirants for an interactive session at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja on Wednesday.
He said the decision for the interactive session with them, was because there are a lot of things that might have been left undone or over looked, which they the aspirants might want the party to look at, this would avail them the opportunity to put this down, to vocalize them and the party would see what it can do.
“What is important is that I want you to me happy, I want you to be satisfied that we are going to have a truly free, fair primaries and a very level playing ground. That is the main purpose for this meeting”, he said.
Speaking earlier, the APC National Organizing Secretary, Osita Izunaso expressed confidence that the Party will win the Anambra governorship election, upon which he reeled out the Party’s election timetable.
Izunaso informed that screening of aspirants would commence on Thursday, 10 to Friday August 11, 2017 while screening appeal will be between Monday 14 and Tuesday August 15, 2017, the primary election was slated for Saturday August 19, 2017, while primary election appeal was also slated for Monday August 21, 2017.
The twelve aspirants are: Chukwuma Paul, Madu Nonso, Moghalu George, Nwibe Bart, Nwike Patrick, Nwoye Tony, Obidigbo Chike, Okonwko, Onunkwo Johnbosco, Uba Andy, Uchegbu Adoabi and Uzoh Obinna‎.
Also, at a separate event, the Party’s National Organising Secretary, Izunaso inaugurated a seven-member screening committee for the Party’s aspirants vying for the Anambra governorship seat.

The committee is chaired by the Ondo State Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi, with members including Dattuwa Kumo, Awele Nwoko, Ishaya Ibrahim, Usman Wowo, Halims Agoda and Ba’aba Umar.
