Ogun Government Confirms Lassa Fever Outbreak, 66 People Under Observation

Lassa Fever Kills Three In Bauchi State


Health Authorities in Ogun State have confirmed the outbreak of Lassa fever in the state.

The Commissioner for Health, Babatunde Ipaye, who confirmed the outbreak, said a 20-year-old patient tested positive for the Lassa virus and had been moved to one of the isolation centres set up by the state government.
Ipaye also said 66 persons who had contact with the victim have been put under observation.
He called on residents to remain calm and assured them of adequate response surveillance in the case of another outbreak.
The commissioner challenged residents to always maintain good environmental and personal hygiene to contain the spread of the fever.
