APDA crisis deepens as parallel executive committees sack one another

The crisis rocking the newly registered Advanced Peoples Democratic Alliance (ADPA) took a new turn on Tuesday, as the executive committees of its rival factions announced the sack of one another.
Loyalists to the Raymond Dokpesi-led Board of Trustees met in Abuja and sacked the Shittu Muhammad-led Interim National Working Committee of the party.
Similarly, the Shittu-led NWC also announced at a seperate meeting that Dokpesi and his loyalists have been sacked from the party.
The Dokpesi-led stakeholders insisted that the tenures of the NWC members had expired since June 14 this year in line with the constitution of the Party, adding that the meeting complied with the Party’s Constitution  as well as provisions of the Electoral Act as amended.
The new National Officers of the Party as put together during the stakeholders’ meeting are Mainasara Ilo as National Chairman; Dan Nwanyan as Chairman Board of Trustee; Amobi Nwosu as National Secretary; Muhammed Tanko as Deputy National Chairman (North);  ‎Fijabi Adebo as Deputy National Chairman (South); and Ide Felix Equabor as National Publicity Secretary.
Addressing journalists shortly after the meeting, the new National Chairman, Ilo pointed out that the former NWC ought to have organized a proper meeting to either extend their tenures or elected news officers in line with Constitution of the Party when their tenures expired but failed to do so for the reasons best know to them.
But in a statement, the Shittu-led executive announced the suspension of Raymond Dokpesi for violating the constitutional provision of the party by holding illegal National Executive Council meeting sacking the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.
The opposition party also accused Dokpesi of constituting an illegal Board of Trustees.
National Secretary of the party, Emeka Okengwu, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.
Okengwu also announced the suspension of Dan Nwanyanwu and Mainasara Ilo.
Incidentally, Dokpesi was at the inauguration of the PDP convention planning committee in Abuja, where the chairman, National Caretaker Committee, Ahmed Makarfi, named him as deputy chairman of the publicity sub-committee.
“Raymond Dokpesi on the 15th of July wrote a letter to Independent National Electoral Commission informing them of a proposed NEC meeting and this letter was signed by him as BOT chairman but INEC responded by telling him to root his letter through the National Chairman of the party because the constitution of the party does not have a BOT until after 5years.
“In their desperation to factionalize the party and move to PDP they went ahead to make this announcement constituting an illegal Board of Trustee and sacking of National Working Committee.
“Due to this indiscipline of these members, the NWC met at an emergency meeting and suspended them and constituted a disciplinary committee to sanction them for bringing disrepute to the party.

“We want to appeal to the general public to disregard there (sic) announcement because they are agent of PDP trying to destroy the emerging alternative party that will give Nigerians a better life,” the statement reads.
