Tax Fraud: Supreme Court declines to sack Gov Ikpeazu of Abia State

The Supreme Court today declined to sack Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State from office over alleged tax infractions. 

A five-man panel of Justices of the apex court affirmed the judgment of the Court of Appeal in Abuja which nullified Ikpeazu’s removal from office over the alleged fraud.
The court dismissed appeals that were lodged by two contenders for the governorship seat, Mr. Sampson Ogah and Sir Friday Nwosu, as lacking in merit.

The Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, has since dedicated his victory over Uche Ogah at the Supreme Court to the people of Abia state, who he said stood by him all through the period of litigation. 

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Enyinnaya Appolos, Governor Ikpeazu stated that the victory is a re-affirmation of the mandate given to him by the people, and now twice confirmed by the Supreme Court.

Edouard Mendy move to the Saudi Pro League from Chelsea player

Edouard Mendy has become the latest Chelsea player to leave for the Saudi Pro League. The Senegalese goalkeeper has joined Al-Ahli after falling out of favour at Stamford Bridge. Mendy, 31, kept only one clean sheet in 10 Premier League appearances last term as Kepa Arrizabalaga usurped the Africa Cup of Nations winner's place between the sticks. He will now follow centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly and N'Golo Kante in moving to Saudi Arabia. A Kenyan athlete Abraham Kiptum has emerged as this year's Access Bannk Lagos City Marathon race.  The #LagosMarathon is a yearly event that Lagos hosts in conjunction with many private organizations. This year was spearheaded by Access Bank PLC with others like 7up, Aquafina water among others. We bring to you some pictures from the marathon that happens in Lagos. The winner of the marathon is a Kenyan athlete Abraham Kiptum. He was declared as this year’s overall winner for the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon!
