The Apapa-Oshodi Road will last for 40 years when completed – Dangote

LAGOS, Nigeria, December 30, 2019,/  — As part of  Dangote  Industries Limited’s commitment to the Federal Government of Nigeria, Group President/CE of Dangote, Aliko Dangote took the Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola on an inspection tour of the 35-kilometre Apapa-Oshodi-Oworonsoki-Ojota highway currently under construction by Dangote Industries Limited. The work began in 2018, as part of a bargain between the company and the Federal Government to enjoy a 10-year tax rebate that accrues to N72.9 Billion. The road has been subjected to heavy traffic flow. An initial attempt to work on the road fell apart, it was approved for N15 Billion in 2013, work on the road stopped after the 2015 general elections. Previous efforts by both Federal and State governments to solve this bottleneck have been unsuccessful. EFCC arrests Shehu Sani ‘over extortion’

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Shehu Sani, former senator representing Kaduna central. An EFCC source said Sani was arrested for collecting money from a businessman, promising to pass it on to Ibrahim Magu, acting chairman  of the anti-graft agency. TheCable could not independently verify the claim of extortion. The ex-lawmaker’s line was engaged when TheCable attempted to reach him several times on Tuesday evening. Wilson Uwujaren, spokesman of the EFCC, declined comments on the issue but Cole Michael, an aide of the former lawmaker, said it is untrue that Sani was arrested. The former lawmaker represented Kaduna central in the upper legislative chamber of the national assembly between 2011 and 2015. Another federal lawmaker dies

Adamu Fagengawo, the member representing Garki/Babura Federal Constituency of Jigawa State, has died at a Dubai hospital. Recall that on Monday, another lawmaker from Sokoto State, Isha Harisu who represented Kebbe Constituency at Sokoto State House of Assembly had also slumped and died while the legislative session was ongoing. On Tuesday afternoon, family sources told DAILY NIGERIAN that Mr Fagengawo had slumped before being taken to a Dubai hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
