Image
Edouard Mendy has become the latest Chelsea player to leave for the Saudi Pro League. The Senegalese goalkeeper has joined Al-Ahli after falling out of favour at Stamford Bridge. Mendy, 31, kept only one clean sheet in 10 Premier League appearances last term as Kepa Arrizabalaga usurped the Africa Cup of Nations winner's place between the sticks. He will now follow centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly and N'Golo Kante in moving to Saudi Arabia. In a farewell post on Instagram, Mendy said: "As I prepare to begin a new chapter in my career, it's hard to say goodbye. "It has been an incredible three years wearing the Chelsea jersey, during which we achieved great success, including winning the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup. "A special thanks goes to all my team-mates for the unforgettable journey we shared together. "I also want to extend my deep gratitude to all the fans for their unbelievable support throughout my time at Chels

Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on Thursday sentenced a Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju Omiyinka, aka Baba Ijesha, to 16 years imprisonment. Baba Ijesha is facing six counts of child defilement that include indecent treatment of a child, sexual assault, attempted sexual assault by penetration and sexual assault by penetration. The offences contravene Section 135, 137, 261, 202, 262 and 263 of the Lagos State Criminal Law 2015, which stipulates life imprisonment for offenders. The actor denied the allegations. A CCTV video recording detailing his relationship with the victim said to be a minor was played in court. Delivering the judgement, Justice Taiwo said that the prosecution failed to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the defendant is guilty of all the charges against him. However, she found the defendant guilty of two of the six counts against him. Source:  BREAKING: Baba Ijesha jailed 16 years - Punch Newspapers (punchng.com)

THE MEANING OF "NEXT OF KIN"

The term “NEXT OF KIN ” simpliciter, does not confer the right of inheritance on the person so named.  If so, of what use is the term?" INTRODUCTION The meaning and the legal implication of the term “NEXT OF KIN ” have been constantly misunderstood by the ordinary public.  It appears, though erroneously, that many people think that once you are appointed the NEXT OF KIN OF A PERSON, it automatically gives you the right to inherit the person’s estate upon his demise.  In fact, many people think that, a NEXT OF KIN gives an exclusive right over a person’s property. The above erroneous belief and understanding of the term NEXT OF KIN has made many people to shy away from the need to make a Will.  This is because, they think appointing a NEXT OF KIN, is a way of naming your beneficiary.  However, the above assumption is not in conformity with the law.  It must be noted that IGNORANCE OF THE LAW IS NOT AN EXCUSE. WHAT THEN IS THE MEANING OF THE TERM “NEXT OF KIN”? The term, NEXT OF KI

bamboo a viable alternative to steel reinforcement

Image
Developing countries have the highest demand for steel-reinforced concrete , but often do not have the means to produce the steel to meet that demand. Rather than put themselves at the mercy of a global market dominated by developed countries, Singapore’s Future Cities Laboratory suggests an alternative to this manufactured rarity: bamboo . Abundant, sustainable, and extremely resilient, bamboo has potential in the future to become an ideal replacement in places where steel cannot easily be produced. In trials of tensile strength, bamboo outperforms most other materials, reinforcement steel included. It achieves this strength through its hollow, tubular structure, evolved over millennia to resist wind forces in its natural habitat. This lightweight structure also makes it easy to harvest and transport. Due to its incredibly rapid growth cycle and the variety of areas in which it is able to grow, bamboo is also extremely cheap. Such rapid growth plant growth requires the grass to abs
